Twitter Interaction

Shawn Hantz (Russell Hantz's brother and Brandon Hantz's father) really wants to be on Survivor. He tweeted to Jeff Probst that he was ready to go, just say the word. I thought it would be fun to ask him which tribe he thinks he should be on. Next season's theme is Brains, Brawn and Beauties, and each of those is a tribe. I also asked him which tribe he thinks Probst would put him on. Here were his responses:

This is a carry-over from yesterday's "Morry" incident. The nickname has really caught on at the office. Yesterday, we had the "Bizarro World" reference. I got to thinking more about it and I guess you could say that Morry Shawolker is my alter-ego. That made me think about when Elaine was called "Susie" by a co-worker and she didn't correct her. Then when "Elaine" did something to make the co-worker, Peggy mad, she couldn't say her name was, so she had to be both Susie and Elaine, and then Susie started getting assignments at work, and she ended up saying that she committed suicide. Well, what if I just started giving some of my workload to Morry! Ha!

Since this nickname has caught on, I posted something on Facebook and said "I always wanted a cool nickname". I was hoping to bait one of my fellow Seinfeld lovers into playing along. Sure enough, Uncle Jim took the bait:

This is a reference to when George wanted the nickname T-Bone. Someone in the office ended up getting the name, and the boss suggested Coco for George instead.

December 18, 2013: Seinfeld Reference #119
Diane was making soup for lunch and as she passed by my desk, she said "I don't have any crackers" and I said "then it's not a meal". Referencing when Bania made Jerry buy him a fancy dinner. He ordered soup and said he'd save the meal for another time. When Jerry complained he said soup wasn't a meal. When he explained this to Elaine, she asked if he crumbled any crackers in it, because that could be considered a meal.

December 18, 2013: Seinfeld Reference #120
Diane was talking about her brother's dog and how he's kind of a wuss, and I said he wouldn't be a very good dog to put in a dog fight unless you want him to "take a dive"...referencing when Kramer had a rooster he called "Little Jerry Seinfeld" that he entered in cock fights. At one point the guy running the fights told him that he needed Little Jerry to take a dive.

Music Ironicness: Ben Jelen - Stay

I was reading a tweet on Twitter from Vytas Baskauskas (from Survivor), and he is going to be leading a yoga retreat in Costa Rica. The next song that played randomly was Ben Jelen's "Stay". In this song, he references yoga! I don't know of any other song that has yoga in it. Just another carry-over full moon thing I think.

"She's off to yoga just to clear her head out"

December 17, 2013: Seinfeld Reference #117

In an earlier post, I showed the weird way that my name was spelled. Uncle Jim of course responds with a great Seinfeld reference. First he said it was the Bizarro World (which was the backwards world where Elaine met opposites of Jerry, Kramer and George).

Then he referenced the Chinese Restaurant when the the host yells out "Cartwright, Cartwright" and no one comes. George was waiting for a call, and he yelled out Cartwright instead of Costanza, therefore making George miss the call.

My Favorite Photo?

I love to take pictures, and I am always the designated photographer on vacations. I pride myself on being able to capture great moments and frame scenes perfectly. I love taking pictures of nature more than just about anything, especially beautiful skies. Clouds, sunrises, sunsets, etc.

I have taken a lot of great pictures in my time that I'm really proud of. But, few months ago, I captured something I didn't expect, and it has turned into one of my favorite photographs that I've ever taken. For this picture, I was just trying to take a picture of the sun and clouds because it was a beautiful day. When I went back and looked at the pictures I had taken that day, this one immediately stood out. There was something special about it. As I looked at it closer, I realized that the rays of the sun formed what looked like a cross! It was beautiful! Ever since then, I keep coming back to this picture and realizing just how awesome it is. Had I snapped the picture a few seconds earlier or later, or held my phone at a slightly different angle, the picture could have been completely different and just plain ordinary. I love this picture so much that I printed it out and put it in a frame in my living room so I can look at it every day. I look at it as a special message from God.

Is That Me?

This strange piece of mail was brought to me at work today. It was addressed to, whom we can all only assume, is me. After laughing hysterically at "my name", I opened the letter to find that it had nothing to do with me. I have no idea why it came to me, or how my name got so horribly misspelled. Just another strange full moon occurrence today.

Music Ironicness

You can tell that today was a full moon...so many weird things today. Many of them including weird song coincidences.

LFO - Dandelion
Today Shelley had some our Lehman's jellies for us to sample. One of the kinds was Dandelion jelly. Soon after she brought them over for us to try, "Dandelion" by LFO played randomly.

Rob Thomas - Give Me The Meltdown
I was reading a safety article about an employee who got a cut on their finger while cleaning up some broken glass. At the very same time, "Give Me The Meltdown" by Rob Thomas came on randomly. The first line in this song is: "Feeling worn down like a piece of glass".

Celine Dion - My Heart Will Go On
This classic song from the movie Titanic played randomly as I was scrolling through some of Mom's pictures from her cruise.

Mika - Lollipop
Mika's song "Lollipop" played while everyone was enjoying some candy at work.

Amy said she smelled fried chicken. Shelley said that that is the first sign of insanity. That reminded me of "The Pothole" episode when Elaine told Jerry:

"Jerry, you have tendencies. They're always annoying, but they were just tendencies. But now, if you can't kiss this girl, I'm afraid we're talking disorder...And from disorder, you're a quirk or two away from full-on dementia."

Seinfeld References #110-115

December 8, 2013:
A get-together at Uncle Jim's means that there are bound to be more than a few Seinfeld references. At Alaynna's birthday party on Sunday, we had 6!

Seinfeld Reference #110
The Chinese Restaurant--Jim was telling a tale of his recent bad service at a Mexican restaurant. They called ahead but still had to wait forever for a table. This obviously reminded us of the Chinese restaurant when the gang waited and waited for a table, while others were seated before them.

Seinfeld Reference #111
The Male Masseuse--We were talking about getting massages, and it reminded me of when George got a massage...by a man...and, it moved.

Seinfeld Reference #112
Being Blacklisted--Jim was talking about someone being kicked out of the grocery store because they were checking prices and comparing them with another store. He said they are all Commies there. I asked if she had been "blacklisted", like when Elaine was "blacklisted" at Hop-Sing's.

Seinfeld Reference #113
The Chart--Jim said he changed the dates on his contact subscriptions several times to get new ones without going to the eye doctor. After a couple times, they realized what he was doing and they weren't very happy. I asked if they wrote it on his chart that he was "difficult" like they did with Elaine.

Seinfeld Reference #114
The Dewey Decimal System--Jaron had a slinky and Jim said "the slinky...what a scam that was". This was a reference to when Kramer was in the library and he said "the Dewey Decimal System...what a scam that was."

Seinfeld Reference #115
Draping in Velvet--Alaynna got a very soft horse throw cover, and Jim loved how soft it was. He wrapped himself all up in it. That reminded me of when George said that "if it was socially acceptable, I'd drape myself in velvet."

Twitter Interactions

Here are some of the most recent celebrity Twitter interactions I've had :)

Kat Edorsson was on Survivor and her boyfriend Hayden is still in the game right now. I'm not sure how she came upon my tweet of the latest recap, since she doesn't follow me. Oh well, still cool.

In the 2nd screen shot, you'll see Kat's boyfriend Hayden favorited one of my tweets. As did Michael Skupin, another former Survivor. The one at the top is from James Kenney, who was a contestant on this season's X Factor.

At work, they got a new coffee maker, and it was a Mr. Coffee. Diane quoted Jerry, saying "I was almost Mr. Coffee. They felt I was a little too relaxed."

December 3, 2013: Seinfeld Reference #109

Mom had a very interesting discovery as she opened a return. It was a grain mill. The "packing" that the customer decided to use was more like their laundry basket. There were rags and what looked like old shirts...oh yeah...and underwear (see photo on the right)! Yuck! The underwear was a pair (possibly more than one...we didn't go digging) of jockey shorts. Of course Diane and I both thought of when Kramer gave up his jockey shorts and his boxers.

Another Survivor Follower: Erik Reichenbach

Happy birthday to me! I got another Survivor Twitter follower today for Reality Bites: Erik Reichenbach. Erik was on the last season of Fans vs. Favorites, as a Favorite, and he competed in the first season of Fans vs. Favorites as a Fan.

Diane was thinking about names for her nephew or niece. She thought Jerry would be a good one, then her brother (also a Seinfeld fan) could call him "my little Jerry", like Kramer's rooster that he called Little Jerry.

She thought 7 would be good for a girl...which led into all the other names that Jerry came up with for George when Susan's cousin decided to name their baby 7, stealing his name. I also suggested Puddy, as in David Puddy, and he could call him his "little Puddy".

Twitter Follow and Favorites

Yesterday, one of my 2 favorite Survivors was eliminated: Aras Baskauskas. I sent him a couple messages in support of him, and he favorited them both :)

I also had Michael Skupin, a 2-time Survivor follow my Reality Bites Twitter account.

Music Ironicness: Starsailor - Poor Misguided Fool and Starsailor - Jeremiah

Today, Amy had a customer who really had some problems. Among other things, he wanted US to delete the items from his cart on the website. All he would have to do is hit the delete button next to the items...and it's not like there were a ton of items. Ridiculous! As Amy was finishing up the call, the song I was listening to was "Poor Misguided Fool" by Starsailor. Haha!

Jeremiah needed a ride home from work...a few minutes after he emailed me, the song I was listening to was "Jeremiah" by Starsailor. Weird!

This morning, Shelley commented on yesterday's marketing campaign where customers could win a free gift. She said someone ended up getting 2. She said "how did R. P. Zimmerman get 2 free gifts? He must have cheated the system". I said we need to put him on "the list", and before I could say any more, Diane said "you got me blacklisted at Hop Sings!". I was going to say, "Shelley named names", but Diane beat me to the reference. This was referring to when Elaine was dating a communist and she used his name, and got him blacklisted from the Chinese Restaurant Hop Sings.

November 21, 2013: Seinfeld Reference #105

Jenn posted a funny meme on Facebook that said: "I told my friend she drew her eyebrows on too high. She looked surprised..." Immediately Heather and I thought of Uncle Leo. He opened a bomb that was meant for Jerry and it burned off his eyebrows. Later, Elaine drew him some eyebrows that made him look angry, and the doctor told Leo he didn't care for his demeanor, and wrote it in his chart.

November 21, 2013: Seinfeld Reference #106

For lunch, Diane had beef...something or other, in a can. I told her, at least it wasn't Beef-a-rino. She then proceeded to sing the song "Beef-a-rino, fit for king and queen-o." This was referring to the food that Kramer fed to his horse Rusty when he was driving a handsome cab.

And then, when she walked by my desk, she said "Rusty!" Because after the Beef-a-rino, Rusty was a little gassy.

This morning Shelley was trying to call Becky. She dialed her extension twice, and then was called by John at Mt. Hope telling her that she was on the paging system there twice! How did that happen? My first thought was that her "rines" were crossed--referring to when George's mom's lines were crossed and she ended up talking to (who she thought was) a Chinese woman. She also happened to be dating Jerry, and she mistakenly told Jerry that the "rines" were crossed.

Seinfeld Quote Quiz

On Facebook there was a quiz to test your knowledge of Seinfeld quotes. They give a picture or a gif and you guess the quote by guessing letters Hangman-style. I always knew I was good with Seinfeld quotes, and this just proves. 12 out of 12 baby! I got no wrong letter guesses, and to be honest, I could have typed the words exact even without the help of Hangman.

Music Ironicness: Green Day - Stop When The Red Lights Flash

Today, I used the phrase "out of sight, out of mind". About 1/2 hour later, the song "Stop When the Red Lights Flash" by Green day played. In that song are the words "out of sight, out of mind"...weird!

Twitter Followers: Jeff Gutt and Alex & Sierra

I'm so excited that not 1, but 2 X Factor acts are now following me!

Jeff Gutt was one of my favorites last season, and for some stupid reason, he didn't make it to the live shows. I don't know what they were thinking to cut him. He came back and he is killing it! I love everything he sings. It is so clear that he is in a completely different league than the competition (besides Alex & Sierra of course).

Alex & Sierra are a boyfriend/girlfriend singing duo. They are the cutest couple, and have amazing voices. They do covers of songs but change them up to suit their unique style. They are doing very well in the competition and seem to be one of Simon's favorites.

They started following me on both of my Twitter accounts: my personal account as well as my Reality Bites account.

November 7, 2013: Seinfeld Reference #101

The Marketing Dept. sent out Lehman's promotional email about getting ready for Thanksgiving, and it said "Family Feast". The very first thing I thought of was the Kenny Roger's chicken episode when Newman had ordered and they were calling his order and the guy says "Number 67: Family Feast".

November 7, 2013: Seinfeld Reference #102

We went to the P. Graham Dunn Open House and were grabbing some snacks at a table. Next thing we know, Diane is suddenly at the table. She had "sidled" up without us even noticing. This reminded me of "The Sidler" who always sidled up to Elaine at work and took credit for work that he didn't help with, so she gave him Tic Tacs to carry so she could hear him coming.

Amy and I were discussing last night's The Voice and I was trying to describe Josh Logan to her to remember which one he was. I said he was the really bald one, who normally wears a hat. She said, "oh, him...he was bald, bald." As soon as she said that, I thought of when George said that a woman was "Bald. BALD, bald", after saying that he was set up on a date with a bald woman.

The promo for the show The Blacklist said "her 2 worlds are colliding" (referring to the main character, who is an FBI agent and her husband is now a suspect). This reminded me right away of George and his "2 world" speech, referring to who he is with his friends ("independent George") and then who he is with his girlfriend ("relationship George").

Music Ironicness: Maroon 5 - Harder To Breathe

Last night on The Voice, Christina Aguilera had 2 of her singers sing Maroon 5's "Harder to Breathe". This morning Amy and I were talking about the performances, and that song in particular because it is a hard song to sing because it has a lot of words. Then, about an hour later, this song randomly played on my Google shuffle.

October 15, 2013

Music Ironicness: Maroon 5 - Lucky Strike

Today when I was driving home from work, I heard Gym Class Heroes' song "Stereo Hearts" that featured Adam Levine. That got me to wondering what Maroon 5's new single was going to be, now that The Voice is on. Because, in seasons in the past, Adam Levine has has done a new song. One season it was "Payphone" and another time it was "Love Somebody". So, as I'm thinking about this, I turn the radio station, and low and behold, the first song I hear is "Lucky Strike". I have NEVER heard this on the radio before, and I have not seen ANYWHERE that this was going to be their next single! So ironic!

Twitter Interaction: Hayden Moss

I'm so excited! I got a reply from Hayden Moss! He's one of my favorite Big Brother winners (season 12). He's also on this season of Survivor. Tonight, his quote from the episode was used as the title of the episode...quite an honor! It was "One Armed Man and 3 Moms", referring to their devastating defeat to a much less physical team. After I posted about it on Twitter (from my Reality Bites account), he replied!

We were talking about photos in the catalog and ones that featured employees who no longer work at Lehman's. One of our favorites is the 6-in-1 scarf. We were laughing about a certain former employee who had long hair and how funny it would look in the scarf and that it might not fit as a hat. That made me think of when Hanky wouldn't apologize to George about saying that his large head would stretch out the neck of his finely knit sweater.

At work we were talking about people who always chit chat on the phone when they call and how you never want to answer the phone when they call because you know you can never get them off. We joked about having an excuse that there was another call coming in, etc. That made me think of when Jerry had a list of excuses written down that he could use when this guy he didn't like would ask him to do something....it was like an "excuse rolodex".

This video is later in the episode when they are using some of the excuses (unfortunately I couldn't find the one where Elaine finds his list and adds some of her own ideas to it.)

When Amy said it and repeated it, I immediately thought it sounded like the little kid on Seinfeld who was calling his Gammy...but he was getting Elaine because his Gammy died and when Elaine switched phone numbers, she got the Gammy's number.

Diane said in their marketing meeting that someone said something about whether or not to use an exclamation mark. That reminded her of the episode where Elaine's boyfriend didn't like to use exclamation marks and that made her mad, and then she went overboard and used too many.

September 24, 2013: Seinfeld Reference #92 & 93

Shelley recognized a lady she hadn't seen for many, many years, and she said she had the same hair style as years ago. We talked about when you find a hairstyle that suits, you might as well keep it. And that reminded me of the "delicate genius" physical therapist that was Elaine's friend and they all thought she had a very old fashioned hairstyle and didn't want to tell her, so they thought if Kramer met her that he would definitely say something, but he did the opposite and said he liked her hair and that she should keep it.

The hair discussion then led into the episode that Elaine's boyfriend told her she had a big head, and then everywhere she went weird things happened like a bird flew into her head and a cab driver made her scrunch down in her seat because he couldn't see out the back window.

Shelley used some of our Lehman's peanuts for a photo shoot, and they were put out for people to eat. Sarah asked what was wrong with them (because sometimes we get "past date" items that we don't want to send to customers). Shelley said nothing was wrong with them. I joked that they had fallen on the floor and were put back in. Then Diane quoted "it was above the rim"...from the episode where George ate an eclair out of the trash and he justified it by saying it was above the rim, was still on the doily and he knew who had taken the bite out of it.

Music Ironicness: Santana & Rob Thomas - Smooth

This morning I was working in the new software at work, and I was trying to come up with a name to do a fake order for. For some reason, "Rob Thomas" popped up in my head, so that's what I used. As soon as I got back to my desk and turned on my music, the very first random song to be played was: Santana & Rob Thomas - Smooth. Weird!

At our morning meeting, there were donuts. Diane saw the name on the box and thought it said Lerch's. However, it was Leech's. She was very disappointed and said that they were imposters, posing as Lerch's. I said kind of like the Willard instead of the Wizard--when Jerry gave his father a Wizard organizer, he told him it wasn't that expensive because he got a deal. So, he wanted Jerry to get a bunch to give out to people on the board at the condo during the election. Since Jerry didn't have a deal, he instead gave him knock of Willard's, which turned out to be junk.

Unfortunately, and surprisingly, I couldn't find the video clip for this one!

Shonda said she wished she could be like Mary Poppins and just have what she needed just appear. Diane said, that was more "I Dream of Jeannie" and she did the classic thing she would do where she crosses her arms and blinks. That reminded us of when George did it...but neither of us could remember the exact context and in what episode he did it. Here it is!

August 21, 2013: Seinfeld Reference #88
Diane was talking about something to do with shipping, and it being a write-off...so naturally we had to think of the "write-off"...

Seinfeld References #83, 84, 85 & 86

August 16, 2013--So many Seinfeld references today!

Seinfeld Reference #83
Today was so crazy/weird, Shonda said it felt like we were in a sitcom! So that made me think of when George and Jerry were coming up with ideas for their show, Jerry, and George was like 'What did you do this morning...there you go, that's a show."

Seinfeld Reference #84
Shonda's been having weird dreams lately. A couple days ago, she dreamt that she was pregnant. Yesterday, she found a very random tiny blue baby rattle sticker or piece of confetti on the floor by her desk in her cubicle. We have no idea where it cold have come from. It seems too weird to be a coincidence. That made me think of Elaine's argument that you can have big coincidences and little coincidences.

Seinfeld Reference #85
A few people from work are running in a marathon for charity, and one of the members of the group that's doing it together isn't so sure about the running. Diane and I said we would rather walk. That reminded us of when Kramer was doing the AIDS walk and how he was up late smoking the night before and Jerry told him he was never going to be able to do the AIDS walk.

Seinfeld Reference #86
Diane was talking about how some people in her family always put up a fuss when you try to pay them back or try to pay for something for them. That reminded me of the episode that was just on the other night, where Jerry's dad tries to pay for his gas, and later Jerry tries to give his dad a wallet and money that he thought was stolen and he hid the money in the wallet (only to have his father throw the wallet away because of something he didn't like, and he never looked inside).

August 15, 2013

Seinfeld Reference #82

August 14, 2013: Seinfeld Reference #82

Co-workers were talking about someone they knew who recently had their second child. They named the child a color, and their other child's name was also a color. One was Scarlet Gray and the other was Violet. That reminded me that the night before, the episode where George dates a woman named Sienna was on. Jerry makes fun of her name and says that "George is dating a crayon."

I couldn't find a clip with that line, but this is a clip of George trying to tell Sienna that he loves her.

Another reference was made today, but since it wasn't mine, I'm not going to add it to the tally. Any way, Heather posted on my Facebook wall that she was talking to someone with an Australian accent today on the phone, and all she could think of was "Maybe the dingo ate your baby!" lol

Big Brother Twitter Interactions

Lots of Big Brother action happening on Twitter....and not from anyone from the US version! I've had conversations with AJ from Big Brother Canada and Callum from Big Brother UK!

AJ Burman - Big Brother Canada
AJ was one of the funniest houseguests on the premier season of Big Brother Canada. As with all of his fellow houseguests, they are all fans of Big Brother US, and have been from the start. So, they always have something fun to say about the show. Here were a couple of his tweets that I commented on (under Reality Bites...my reality blog).

Callum Knell - Big Brother UK
I love Callum! He was/is my favorite housemate on this 14th season of BBUK. He was recently voted out for being...too nice! He seems like a very likable and genuine person. His BFF in the house was Sam, and he was very protective of his best mate (Sam has a hearing disability).

Music Ironicness: Devo - Whip It

The musically ironic things that happen to me so often, are always such a coincidence. But this one is especially strange.

I was reading online a joke that included the famous "step on a crack, break your mother's back" phrase. A short time later, I was watching Full House rerun. It was the one where Uncle Jesse was opening the Smash Club and Joey said that he booked REM, a famous 90s band. It turns out REM also is the name of 3 old ladies, who are also triplets. They end up playing the song "Whip It" by Devo. And in that song, part of the lyrics are...you guessed..."step on a crack, break your mama's back"!

Here is the original song.

And here is the clip from Full House:

Music Ironicness: Gavin DeGraw - Best I Ever Had

So, I'm watching the movie Take Me Home Tonight and on my laptop, I'm watching Gavin DeGraw's performance of "Best I Ever Had" on Jay Leno that I missed. One of the first parts of the lyrics, he sings "take me home". Whoa...

At work we've been having trouble with the computer server. IBM has not made this urgent issue a priority, and we are going on a couple weeks now, without being able to work on our new software. Our IT guy has to be stressed and under so much pressure right now to get things fixed. Diane and I joked about how he could relieve his stress. I suggested we round up some of the old computers, and stick him in the room with them and let him go to town...just like Kramer when he exploded due to the "Serenity now" technique. We even have a rocking chair and screen door for him if he ends up like Kramer!

August 6, 2013

Music Ironicness: Backstreet Boys - Panic

Ever listen to music while you are reading something, and then in the song they sing the exact same word or words at the exact same time you read them? It's so weird when that happens. This morning I was reading an article about Big Brother and at the exact same time that I read the words "loud and clear" the Backstreet Boys sang the same thing! One word is weird, so I'm not even sure what to think about 3.

Today a customer called Lehman's and wanted to know how to get vomit out of her wool rug. We threw around lots of funny ideas after the call ended. Diane said she should just turn the rug over, like George did after Poppie peed on the couch cushion.

GEORGE: Why don't you take back the couch you gave me?
JERRY: The one with the Poppie stain?!
GEORGE: Yeah, sure. Then my father will have no place to sleep. He's gotta move out.
ELAINE: But it's got a pee-stain on it.
GEORGE: No, the cushion's turned over.

Music Ironicness: Nick Lachey - Shades Of Blue & Ashley Parker Angel - Shades Of Blue

Yesterday, these 2 songs played randomly back to back: Nick Lachey's "Shades of Blue" and Ashley Parker Angel's "Shades of Blue". Now, I have plenty of songs that have the same titles, but it's very ironic that they would play back to back. And what's even weirder is that both of these artists are or were lead singers of boy bands. Nick Lachey is in 98° and Ashley Parker Angel was in O-Town. Weird!

Music Ironicness: Anastacia - In Your Eyes & Kate Voegele - Sandcastles

This morning on the way to work the radio djs were talking about vacations and the one dj said she wanted to go to the beach and build a sandcastle. A few minutes later, I watched a video that was posted by a friend on Facebook by an artist I love: Anastacia. In her song "In Your Eyes" (which I had never heard before), there is a line that says "making castles in the sand". How random!

UPDATE: the very next day, one of the first random songs of the day that played was Kate Voegele's "Sandcastles". What's with all the sandcastles lately?

The cop pulled him over and said he caught him doing 93 and Jerry said he must have caught him when he slowed down to take the curve because he was doing well over 100. Diane laughed and said that during the incident, her brother was thinking of the exact same episode! When he was telling them the story, he was drumming his fingers on the table like Jerry was on the steering wheel.

Last night there was a parade, and some co-workers walked the parade route with a Lehman's "float". They all wore matching t-shirts with the exception of one co-worker's husband who didn't want to. This reminded me of the AIDS walk where Kramer refused to wear the ribbon.

Music Ironicness: David Cook - Billie Jean

Today Shonda was discussing her recent trip out west. She said in Las Vegas there was a fountain that put on a show to lights, and it was always to different songs. One of the songs was Michael Jackson's "Billie Jean". She said when it came on everyone in the area started singing. Well, about 15 minutes later, my Google playlist randomly selected David Cook's cover of "Billie Jean" that he performed on American Idol several years ago. So weird!

Here is his performance on the show...

And here is a studio version of the song...because it's just that good :)

As Bruce is typing this, he said, "speaking of b.o. did you notice that ___ has really bad b.o.?" (name withheld for anonymity). He was referring to one of the software consultants we work with. He said he notices it when he steps in the room. I had to think of the smelly car episode where the valet had bad b.o. and it attached itself to Jerry's car and anyone who got in the car.

But it reminded me of a clip of Jerry's stand-up, where he was talking about how funerals are like moving because only your close friends could help you with a move like that and once you find the perfect box, it's too late because you're being buried in it.

Here is the transcript since the clip cuts off the last couple seconds...and the punchline :(

"When You're moving your whole world becomes boxes. That's all you think about is
boxes. Boxes, where are there boxes? You just wander down the street going in and out of stores. Are there boxes here? Have you seen any boxes? I mean it's all you think about. You can't even talk to people because you can't concentrate. Shut up I'm looking for boxes. Just after a while you become like really into it you can smell them. You walk into a store. There's boxes here. Don't tell me you don't have boxes. Dammit, I can SMELL them. I'm like I'm obsessed. I love the smell of cardboard in the morning. You could be at a funeral. Everyone's mourning crying around, and your looking at the casket. That's a nice box Does anyone know where that guy got that box? When he's done with it do you think I could get that? It's got some nice handles on it. And that's what death is really. It's the last big move of your life. The hearse is like the van. The pall bearers are your close friends the only ones you could ask to help you with a big move like that. And the casket is that great perfect box you've been waiting for your whole life The only problem is, once you find it you're in it."

"Well, you know, we were having dinner the other night, and she's got this strangest habit. She eats her peas one at a time. You've never seen anything like it. It takes her an hour to finish them. I mean, we've had dinner other times. I've seen her eat Corn Niblets. But she scooped them."

Then this morning, I was sharing this story with Shonda, and again, we had a good laugh about it...wondering if this was her maiden name or her married name. Then not long after (maybe an hour or so), I'm at my desk, working on my computer, Google Play is on shuffle...as usual. About halfway through the song, I realized what was playing: Weezer's "Beverly Hills"!!! So ironic! I can't tell you the last time I heard this song! It was so long ago. What are the odds?? I take these pills to make me thin
I dye my hair, and cut my skin
I try everything, to make them see me
But all they see, is someone that's not me

Even when I'm walking on a wire
Even when I set myself on fire
Why do I always feel invisible, invisible
Everyday I try to look my best
Even though inside I'm such a mess
Why do I always feel invisible, invisible

Here inside, my quiet hell
You cannot hear, my cries for help
I try everything, to make them see me
But every one, sees what I can't be

Even when I'm walking on a wire
Even when I sat myself on fire
Why do I always feel invisible, invisible
Everyday I try to look my best
Even though inside I'm such a mess
Why do I always feel invisible, invisible

Sometimes when I'm alone
I pretend that I'm a queen
It's almost believable

Even when I'm walking on a wire
Even when I sat myself on fire
Why do I always feel invisible, invisible
Everyday I try to look my best
Even though inside I'm such a mess
Why do I always feel invisible, invisible

Mar. 6, 2013: Seinfeld Reference #56

OK, so this reference is a rather long and ironic coincidence!

It all started with a forwarded email from Diane, that originated from Renee. Renee emailed Diane, saying that a co-worker reminded her of Puddy (one of Elaine's boyfriends; also Jerry's mechanic). Diane forwarded it to me and we exchanged a couple of emails back and forth about it:

Me: "lol! I never would have made that connection, but yeah, he kind of does! This is bad, because now everytime we see him, that's all we're going to think about and we'll expect him to say 'You stole my Jesus fish didn't you?'"
Diane: "or 'high five'"
Me: "Yes! Do you think he'd be offended if we call him 'grease monkey'?"
Diane: "wonder if he likes Arby's"

All of those quotes were from various Puddy references throughout his many appearances on the show. This video is a compilation that includes each one of those references (nice, huh?)...

Now, for what makes this so interesting? Just a little bit ago, I was on Twitter and saw that the Seinfeld account that I follow posted this:

I've been pretty involved with the implementation of new software at work...not as involved as the VPs, but still pretty involved. For some reason, I'm always forgotten about. Left out of email threads, they forget to tell me when they are having a meeting, or they forget to call me in when they start a meeting. It's becoming kind of a regular occurrence. So today, I knew there was a meeting after the Focus Group's daily meeting. The only way to know when our software meeting was going to begin was if someone came to get me. No one did. Afterwards, I get "sorry we forgot to call you in". Granted, I didn't really miss much, so it's not like it was a horrible thing...it's just the thought, and the fact that it seems to happen quite often. Story of my life. So where was I going with this? Oh yeah, Seinfeld. So, after this happened, it made me think about George Costanza and how the Yankees got really annoyed with him and they told him that they only wake him up for the important meetings. (In the clip below, the reference appears at the 3 minute mark.

Today I got a response on Twitter from Aras Baskauskas! I was so excited! I love him!

Who is Aras? In 2006, he was the winner of Survivor Season 12: Panama-Exile Island.

A little bit about Aras:

He is of Lithuanian decent and has both Lithuanian and American citizenship. His grandfather is Macdonald Carey, who was an actor on Days of our Lives. Aras actually appeared once on the show in 1988 as one of the children listening to Tom Horton (played by Carey) reading The Christmas story.

Since Survivor, he has been focusing on his music career. He performs under the stage name "Odd Us" (which is similar to how his first name is actually pronounced). He released his first album "The Tree and the River" in 2011.

I thought this was pretty funny, so I commented: "And both are still pretty relevant today. My "Seinfeld-loving" friends and I have at LEAST 1 Seinfeld reference a day!"

Literally, like 10 minutes later, Diane and I had the following reference: We were trying to talk around a pole, and each of us kept leaning the wrong way and we kept missing each other. Big Celebrity Day On Twitter!

What an exciting day for me on Twitter! Dan Gheesling and William Holman! So, who are these guys, you might wonder. Well...

Dan was on one of my favorite reality shows ever, Big Brother. He won Season 10 in 2008. He then competed on Season 14, when he came back as one of the coaches for a new group of houseguests. Dan is smart, funny, strategic...you name it. He almost won Season 14, which should have been an almost impossible task as a returnee AND a previous winner. He ended up coming in 2nd to his protoge Ian.

Today on Twitter, he made reference to Office Space and I just had to comment. Imagine my surprise when he replied to my comment! Here is the conversation:

The other exciting thing for today was from William Holman. He was a bachelor on The Bachelorette for Emily's season. I fell in love with him from the start. He's from Ohio, which is cool. He's also frickin' hilarious! He was the funny goofball on the show, and he's still so funny. His tweets make me laugh every day...which is what I commented to him today. His tweet was:

"If life hands you lemons, you probably did something wrong."

I thought it was funny, so I commented a compliment to him, and he favorited it!

I also gained a new follower...someone I've never heard of...so I decided to check him out. His name is AJ Edwards. Hes a singer/songwriter. I checked out some of his music, and wow...really liked it!
