Music Ironicness

So last night on American Idol, they did songs from Sia's catalog. My favorite, Dalton, sang "Bird Set Free".

Today as I was listening to my Google Play random playlist, what song happens to play? Sia's "Bird Set Free".

Not only that, but they also sang American rock songs last night. La'Porsha sang Bon Jovi's "Wanted Dead or Alive". At first I was thinking that the song was originally done by Blake Lewis on Season 6...but then remembered that his epic performance was of "You Give Love a Bad Name". So again today, another random song that played was...Blake Lewis's American Idol performance of "You Give Love a Bad Name".

So weird!

Music Ironicness

Yesterday, as I'm proofing web pages for the new Lehman's website, I'm getting frustrated because as always, it's taking forever to update and show my changes. So, I'm clicking Refresh over and over and over for what feels like forever. I utter under my breath "come on!"literally at the same time that the words are being sung in the song "Come On" by Green River Ordinance is playing in the background.

Music Ironicness

Today, we had a very beautiful snowfall, which has been VERY rare this winter for us in Ohio. So naturally, it sparked a lot of conversation in the office. As everyone is talking about the snow, my random Google Play playlist of over 11,000 songs, begins playing Jordin Sparks's song "Walking on Snow". I think I only have one other song about snow in my collection, and that would be Shayne Ward's "Melt the Snow". Oops, just checked, and I do have another one: Keane's "Snowed Under". 3 "snow" songs out of 11,633. So either Google is just that smart to know that it's snowing outside, or it's just really ironic.

Music Ironicness

I'm sitting there working away at web proofing, listening to my music. At the moment, it was Tyler Hilton's "Jenny". As I'm singing along (in my head), over my cubicle wall, I hear a co-worker asking another co-worker a question. That co-worker's name just happens to be Jenny. So, I'm singing "Jenny", and at the same time, I hear "Jenny, what category does this go in?" So weird!

Music Ironicness and Twitter

I haven't had one of these in a long time! So, I'm at work, listening to my music on Google Play, like always. I saw that I had a notification on my phone, so I checked it to see what it was. It turns out I had a new Twitter follower: Gavin Mikhail! You probably don't know him, but I love his music. This really took me by surprise, because I haven't done much on Twitter for quite some time. I also don't follow Gavin. So this really was totally out of the blue.

What makes this more interesting is that, the next song (or maybe 2 songs later), as a song by Gavin! Out of the 11, 633 songs I have, just randomly minutes after he follows me, one of his songs plays!

Music Ironicness: We Need Medicine

It's been quite a while since I've had any weird music moments, but I definitely had one today! My co-workers and I were joking about whether or not working in customer service could cause someone to eventually go nuts enough to need medication. It was just then that "We Need Medicine" by The Fratellis came on.

Ironicness

I'm a little behind on recounting all of the strange, ironic occurrences that happen to me...but I've been keeping a list of all the ones that have happened to me in the last couple months, so here we go...

1. I was watching Who Do You Think You Are with Valerie Bertinelli. At the same moment that she mentioned one of her distant relative's name of "Jacob", I was typing the name "Jacob" into a training document I was working on!

2. I was listening to Fefe Dobson's "Bye Bye Boyfriend"

3. I was working on a training document for handling Amazon feedback, when on the Tonight Show, Jimmy did a segment with his suggestion box and said he loves getting feedback from the viewers.

4. I was watching the show Extant, and one of the characters said the word "family" at the same time I was looking at a post on Facebook from Alex & Sierra, which was a photo with the title "family".

5. I was listening to the song "Slow Motion" by Third Eye Blind, when my computer started going extremely slow.

Music Ironicness: The All-American Rejects - 11:11 P.M.

This might be the weirdest occurrence of "music ironicness" yet! Figures it would happen today, Friday the 13th with a full moon...which is a very, very rare occurrence itself.

I was in the middle of doing my "Music of the Day" blog post, and I always use a split screen to find the video on one side, and work on my blog on the other. And, while the video is playing, I often check Facebook and other things on the Internet. I was in the middle of listening to The All-American Rejects song "11:11 P.M.", when I looked on the other side of my screen, where I was looking at a friend's Facebook profile. One of the pages she "Liked" was "11:11 Make a wish". Are you kidding me?!?! What are the odds? I have no words to describe how strange this is. Below is a screen capture with the 2 11:11's hi-lighted in yellow...

Music Ironicness: Theory Of A Deadman - We Were Men

Today is Memorial Day. A day where remember all of the men and women who fought for our freedom and lost their lives. It's a day when many TV stations are playing war movies, and there are tons of war documentaries. I did so much work around the house, and of course while working, I have my Google Play library playing on shuffle on my phone. I found it interesting and appropriate that the song "We Were Men" by Theory Of A Deadman played. This isn't a song I'm that familiar with, but listening to the lyrics, it's all about troops defending our country.

Music Ironicness: Scars On 45 - Insecurity

I was scrolling through my Twitter feed. One of the accounts I follow, "Fascinating Pictures", posted a picture with the caption "Ignorance". The song that was currently playing was "Insecurity" by Scars on 45, and the line in the song "ignorance is bliss" played at the same time I read the word "ignorance". Whoa...weird!

Music Ironicness: William Tell - Jeannie

This morning, my friend Jessica and I were talking about another co-worker, named Jeannie. Not long after, the song "Jeannie" by William Tell played randomly on my Google Player. What are the odds?! I have over 8500 songs, and it plays THAT song?

Music/TV Ironicness: Whitney Houston - I Wanna Dance With Somebody

Monday night on Dancing With The Stars, Danica and Val danced to Whitney Houston's "I Wanna Dance With Somebody". This morning, I was listening to Pandora. I was listening to my Boy Band station, and what song comes on? Whitney Houston's "I Wanna Dance With Somebody"! Why? That is so crazy! That's such an old song, and I don't see a lot of similarities between that song and the other boy band songs I've favorited on that station. I'm not sure why Pandora picked that song. So crazy!

Music Ironicness: Rain

Today it rained, and rained, and rained....all day long. It's funny that it seems like any time it rains, a song about rain randomly plays. It's usually Travis's "Why Does It Always Rain On Me". Today I heard not one, not two, but three songs with rain in the title!

The first one was Jordin Sparks's "Let It Rain"

Next came The Audition's "Make It Rain" (Note: on this song, I actually chose to play my entire The Audition collection, but still).

Then, as if that wasn't weird enough, on my way home from work, I hear Blind Melon's "No Rain" (What's odd about this song is that this song is 20 years old! What was it doing on the radio? Side note...how can this song be 20 years old? Man, I feel old!)

Music Ironicness: The Downtown Fiction - Keep Moving

Maybe it was the full moon just a couple days ago, but another totally random and strange musical occurrence happened to me. I was working on a spreadsheet at work. One of the columns, specifically the column I was editing, was labeled "Signed Up". While I was working in that column, the song "Keep Moving" by The Downtown Fiction came on. One of the lines in the song includes the words "signed up". Seriously, what are the odds?!?! The line was "she signed up for community college".

Music Ironicness: Enrique Iglesias - I Will Survive

Today was an extremely long and stressful day of training. During my lunch break, I was back at my desk, and I turned on some music. The first song that came on was Enrique Iglesias's "I Will Survive". I thought...yes, I WILL survive this!

Music Ironicness

Today was a very rough day. Lots of problems just kept coming my way, one after another. Right at the point I was really feeling the pressure the most, the song "When I Look to the Sky" by Train came on. The first few lyrics of the song are "When it rains, it pours". And that is exactly how I was feeling!

Music Ironicness

So, this round of "Music Ironicness" isn't actually about a song I "heard", but it's still very ironic. I was watching a video from one of my favorite people, Tim Dormer, winner of Big Brother Australia 2013. He is awesome, and I just love him. He's such a goofball, and he cracks me up on a daily basis. Any way, his most recent video is of him finding the love of his life: a baby puppy, who is calling Meat Loaf. Tim tends to name all of his animals after musicians. He loves guinea pigs and had literally dozens of them, and they were named things like Lady Gaga, Steven Tyler...you get the picture. So, his newest pet, is named after the singer Meat Loaf. As Tim is snuggling with his new little puppy, he starts singing "I would do anything or love..." which is one of Meat Loaf's songs. It's been a long time since I've heard that song. So the ironic part is that I was perusing my Bloglovin blog newsfeed, and there was an article titled "Meat Loaf Explains What the "That" is in "I'd Do Anything For Love"! Whoa! What are the odds? One in a million? Probably. The song is from 1993, why on earth would this be a news topic in 2014? So strange...

Here is Tim's video:

Music Ironicness

1. I was leaving work to go home, and the first song that played in the car was Daughtry's "Home", in which the lyrics actually state "I'm going home".

2. Today was a stressful day, and I've got a lot of things I'm worrying and stressing over. One of the songs that played randomly while I was working was The All-American Rejects' song "Why Worry".

Music Ironicness

This morning I was in the bathroom getting ready. I hadn't put in my contacts yet, and I was debating if I just wanted to wear my glasses, because the last few days my eyes have really been irritated. As I was thinking, my eyes started burning, as they do sometimes. And as I was thinking to myself "man, my eyes are really burning this morning"...my alarm playing music was playing the song "The Collapse" by Adelitas Way, and in the song there is a line "I want it to break, I want it to burn".

Music Ironicness

A couple of strange music things happened yesterday:

1) The random song that was playing was Katy Perry's "Wide Awake". In the song there is a line that goes "...falling from cloud nine". At the time that that line played, I was scrolling through some songs and exactly when she sang "nine" I was looking at the Casey James song "Jealous Guy", that appeared on Season 9 of American Idol (and I have that as the album title). So she was singing "nine" and I was looking at "9" at the same time.

2) 2 random songs happened to play in the same day with the line "shake that thing". I think these 2 songs are the only 2 songs in my 9,000+ song collection with that phrase. The 2 songs couldn't be more different. One is a country song from the movie Country Strong ("Shake That Thing" performed by Gwyneth Paltrow) and the other is from a sort of rock group ("Paris" by Grace Potter and the Nocturnals). Very strange.
