Ironicness

I'm a little behind on recounting all of the strange, ironic occurrences that happen to me...but I've been keeping a list of all the ones that have happened to me in the last couple months, so here we go...

1. I was watching Who Do You Think You Are with Valerie Bertinelli. At the same moment that she mentioned one of her distant relative's name of "Jacob", I was typing the name "Jacob" into a training document I was working on!

2. I was listening to Fefe Dobson's "Bye Bye Boyfriend"

3. I was working on a training document for handling Amazon feedback, when on the Tonight Show, Jimmy did a segment with his suggestion box and said he loves getting feedback from the viewers.

4. I was watching the show Extant, and one of the characters said the word "family" at the same time I was looking at a post on Facebook from Alex & Sierra, which was a photo with the title "family".

5. I was listening to the song "Slow Motion" by Third Eye Blind, when my computer started going extremely slow.

Music Ironicness: The Offspring - Hammerhead

I was working on my blog article for my "Songs of the Day". I was watching Spartacus (a very violent show), while I was doing this. As I was typing The Offspring's song "Hammerhead", which was one of the songs I picked for today...someone was literally getting hit in the head with a giant hammer! That is just creepy!!!

Hayden Moss or Hayden Voss?

During the Big Brother premiere, I of course was following all of the BB alumni on Twitter. One of my favs, as you know, is Hayden from BB12 and Survivor. He's usually really good about replying to tweets. He sent out a tweet about one of the contestants this season, whose name is very similar to his. His full name is "Hayden Moss". One of the contestants' names is "Hayden Voss". Whoa!

He tweeted: "This dudes name is Hayden Voss? Lol...that's gotta nice ring to it!"

I replied and he favorited it and sent a reply back:

Celebrity Twitter Follower: JJ O'Brien

Look who just got followed by one of the current bachelors on The Bachelorette! I retweeted one of his tweets tonight during the show, with my Reality Bites Twitter account. Then he started following me :)

Update 6/20: He now just also followed my personal account. I don't think I used my personal account to Favorite anything of his...wonder where this came from :)

Music Ironicness: The All-American Rejects - 11:11 P.M.

This might be the weirdest occurrence of "music ironicness" yet! Figures it would happen today, Friday the 13th with a full moon...which is a very, very rare occurrence itself.

I was in the middle of doing my "Music of the Day" blog post, and I always use a split screen to find the video on one side, and work on my blog on the other. And, while the video is playing, I often check Facebook and other things on the Internet. I was in the middle of listening to The All-American Rejects song "11:11 P.M.", when I looked on the other side of my screen, where I was looking at a friend's Facebook profile. One of the pages she "Liked" was "11:11 Make a wish". Are you kidding me?!?! What are the odds? I have no words to describe how strange this is. Below is a screen capture with the 2 11:11's hi-lighted in yellow...

It's the Little Things...

Anyone who knows me, knows that for the past 2 years or so at work, things have been....let's just say crazy and overwhelming at times. I've been pretty involved with the implementation of new software, that is affecting just about every area of business: direct sales, online sales, retail, etc. My job as Trainer, has required me to learn procedures for just about every job. And not only learn it, but create procedure documents and training materials. I have to know everything well enough so that I can train everyone else. There have been a lot of deadlines that have needed to be met for getting everything prepared. And that includes printing, collating and hole-punching hundreds of upon hundreds of documents to pass out to the employees.

It's been hard to get everything done, and lots of overtime hours have been put in. Things have been stressful, but thankfully after the big pushes to get things done, there has been some relief before the next round. I tried not to let the stress and frustration show, but some who know me well, knew I was under a lot of pressure during a timeframe of a couple weeks where we were conducting training with selected "Super Users". It was during this time, that I received some little unexpected pick-me-ups that were so thoughtful. These were given to me a couple months ago, but I'm just now getting around to posting about it.

I Made it on the RealitySteve Website!

For those of you who don't know, I'm a huge reality TV fan. The good kind of reality TV: the competition style NOT the "Kardashian" or "Housewives" style. My favorites are Survivor, Big Brother, The Amazing Race, American Idol, The Voice, Dancing With The Stars....I could go on but I'll stop there. I also love The Bachelor and The Bachelorette. For most shows, I love the suspense and avoid spoiler websites. However, when it comes to The Bachelor and The Bachelorette, I actually kind of like knowing who the lead ends up with and who gets eliminated when. For the inside scoop, I rely on RealitySteve. He somehow manages to get all the dirty details and spoils the show pretty consistently every season, pretty soon after they end filming it.

One of the features of RealitySteve's blog/website is a weekly "Reader Emails" post, where he posts emails he gets along with his response. Normally, in any situation, on any site, I'm a reader only. I don't engage on message boards or comment sections. Really, the main reason is that there are a lot of crazies out there, and arguing is a waste of time. I share all my thoughts on my Reality Bites blog, and talk about the shows with all my friends, so I don't need to do it with strangers. However, last week, I made an exception. Something on The Bachelorette caught my attention, and I just had to email RealitySteve with my observation. I first watched the clip a couple times to make sure I heard what I thought I heard. Because if you're wrong, or make a stupid observation...you will be made fun of publicly on his website. I didn't want to be one of those people. I was pretty sure what I had was worth sharing, and something that not everyone might know or have caught, so I thought I'd take a chance.

So, I'm watching the very first episode of the season, where Andi, our Bachelorette is meeting her 25 guys. Each guy has a limited amount of time to make a lasting impression, otherwise he could be cut on the first night. There's this guy Marquel. We know he's a little strange because he calls himself a "cookie connoisseur", and the love of his life right now is the cookie. He has somehow managed to bring a large tray with an assortment of cookies on it, and he would like to have a cookie tasting with Andi (instead of a wine tasting). He and Andi try several, and then he tells her he has a cookie he knows she will love. He digs to the bottom of the pile and pulls out...the black and white cookie. Immediately, I think of Seinfeld...of course...who wouldn't? And that's even before this happened....

American Idol Bracket 2014

It's official! The American Idol bracket "Queen of the Idol Picks" trophy is in my possession for a whole year! The first year I won it, in 2012, we didn't have the trophy, so this is technically my first time having it, but 2nd time winning the bracket in 3 years. If you recall, the last time I won it, Phillip Phillips was my pick to win it all (based partly on rave reviews in his audition by one of my co-workers). She, and I, were right that year and Phillip won it all, securing 10 bonus points for me. Last year, I narrowly lost (due to a misunderstanding of the rules by the other members of our bracket).

This year, my pick was Caleb Johnson. It was a tough pick, and I had a couple others I was considering. Ultimately, I went with my gut, and the fact that Caleb just seemed like a true performer, who really had his act together. He knew what kind of an artist he wanted to be, and he was so consistent in all of the rounds leading up to the live shows. Week after week during the competition, he continued to make the smartest song choices. They were perfect for his voice and his style. He also challenged himself and chose a few songs that were outside of his comfort zone. But like all of the greats before him (David Cook, Adam Lambert, etc.), he made those surprising song choices into some of his best performances. He was inventive and creative, and always made you wonder what he was going to sing the following week. He continued to escape the bottom 3 every week, and I felt like he only grew stronger and stronger. It was to the point that I wasn't even worried about him ever being in the bottom, because he was just that good.

The other 3 ladies in our bracket, were not so lucky. Ben was chosen as a pick to win it all, and he was voted out in week 3. The other 2 ladies chose Majesty as the winner. She was voted out in week 4. By week 4, I was the only one with my "horse in the race". As our rules state, you can switch your pick to win if your pick gets voted out, but you will only get 5 bonus points if that person wins. Dexter was chosen as a replacement, and he was voted out in week 7. After that, Alex and Jena were the picks by the 3 other ladies. Alex was voted out in week 11. We were now down to the final 2: Jena and Caleb. It was me against 2 of the other ladies, with my Caleb STILL being in it! For the first time, I was really worried that Jena was going to win. The critics and fans all around raved about Jena's talent. I just didn't see what all the fuss was about (If you read by Reality Bites blog, you know my feelings about Jena).

As we went into the final night, I was still leading the bracket by 2 points. Only Nancy could catch me. I knew I had to be careful, so I weighed by final vote very carefully, and I figured something out. If I voted for Caleb to win, and he lost, I got 0 points for the week. Nancy would get 5 points for guessing Jena to win for the week. Her pick to win was Alex, so she couldn't get any bonus points, but that 5 points would be enough to beat me. However, if I chose to give Jena my vote for the week, I stay ahead if she wins, but even if I was wrong and Caleb won, I still would get 10 bonus points for picking Caleb as my pick to win it all from the beginning. So, the choice was obvious. Plus, I thought it might actually help Caleb by "voting against him". Sure enough...it worked! The other 3 ladies (plus me) picked Jena to win, and it was CALEB!!!! I was so ecstatic! Not just because I won, but because the right person won. All of my voting (50 votes by text, Facebook and Google, and as many phone calls as I could get to go through), plus my mom's 50 votes on all methods proved to do the trick.

It was another fun and unpredictable year for our bracket. I fully expect to keep this trophy next year as well. :)

Seinfeld Occurrences

Seinfeld premiered about 25 years ago. It's strange how even today, it is still all too relevant. Nearly every day, there is something that can be related to an episode. Diane, Heather and I started our @SeinfeldOccurrences Twitter account a few weeks ago to chronicle all of our occurrences. Here are our first 12:

Music Ironicness: Theory Of A Deadman - We Were Men

Today is Memorial Day. A day where remember all of the men and women who fought for our freedom and lost their lives. It's a day when many TV stations are playing war movies, and there are tons of war documentaries. I did so much work around the house, and of course while working, I have my Google Play library playing on shuffle on my phone. I found it interesting and appropriate that the song "We Were Men" by Theory Of A Deadman played. This isn't a song I'm that familiar with, but listening to the lyrics, it's all about troops defending our country.

TV Ironicness: Hugh Jackman's Entrace on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon

I always DVR The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon for a couple reasons:
1) I can't stay up that late (on a regular basis)
2) It's too funny to miss

So, I always watch all 5 episodes from the week on Saturdays and Sundays, since I have way too many other shows to watch through the week. So, today, I'm doing just that. While watching, I'm also checking my Twitter feed, and I see a tweet from 8 minutes ago, from the Tonight Show. It was featuring Hugh Jackman's entrance. Literally, at the same time I'm looking at this GIF, I'm watching Jimmy introduce Hugh Jackman, and he comes hopping out from behind the curtain. Seriously...it was at exactly the same time! This episode aired 3 days ago, what are the odds the show would tweet that, and I would be watching the exact same thing at the exact same time. It blows my mind!!!

Music Ironicness: Scars On 45 - Insecurity

I was scrolling through my Twitter feed. One of the accounts I follow, "Fascinating Pictures", posted a picture with the caption "Ignorance". The song that was currently playing was "Insecurity" by Scars on 45, and the line in the song "ignorance is bliss" played at the same time I read the word "ignorance". Whoa...weird!

Back To 3rd Grade...For The 3rd Time

It's funny how life works out sometimes. Most people only ever get to experience 3rd grade once in their lifetime. But me? I'm going back for my 3rd time! Each time has been for very different reasons. The first one isn't so special, it was as a student, obviously. However, the next 2 events make for a quite interesting story.

To get the full effect of this story, I need to start in the beginning, with my first experience in 3rd grade. That was way back in 1991, and my teacher is Mrs. Handwerk. Wow...that seems like forever ago!

Fast forward to 2005, when I was a senior year at Malone, studying early childhood education. It's a requirement in the last semester to have a student teaching assignment. Because I commuted to Malone, they were nice enough to place me at a school close to home. All of my other field experiences were in Canton schools, so it was nice to be closer to home. I was shocked to find out that I was actually going back to my old elementary school. I was even more shocked to find out that I was going to be student teaching in the 3rd grade...yes...with Mrs. Handwerk! 14 years later, and I end up in the same classroom! An added coincidence occurred when I found out that the other 3rd grade teacher was Mrs. Clark. Mrs. Clark was my 2nd grade teacher! I worked very closely with both of them because their classes switched for certain subjects. I can't tell you how comforting it was to be in a familiar school, with familiar teachers. I really enjoyed my time student teaching, and I had some really great kids. As a side note: I just realized that my 3rd graders from my student teaching class are graduating this year! Oh my goodness!

I graduated in 2005 with a Bachelor's of Science in Early Childhood Education. While looking for a teaching job, I did some subbing. I also continued to work at Lehman's, where I'd been for 4 years as a CSR. Something had been telling me, for quite some time, that I was never going to actually ever be teaching in a school. It was just very hard to picture myself with my own classroom, even though I always really enjoyed my experiences working in classrooms. Other than working on the farm growing up, Lehman's is the only place I had ever worked (and that's still true!) I loved it at Lehman's (and still do), and it was hard to see myself leaving.

A year later, God opened up an amazing opportunity for me. Out of nowhere, a new position was created--"Trainer". It was perfect! Getting that promotion was the best thing that could have happened to me! I got to stay at the place I loved, and (sort of) do the job I went to school for. Perfect timing, and the perfect job...I have no doubt that this was God's master plan for me at work.

You might think that this is where the story ends...but, you'd be wrong. It's now 2014, and it's time again, to go back to 3rd grade...

I never knew this, but Glenda Lehman Ervin, (VP of Marketing and daughter of founder, Jay Lehman), had for years been a Junior Achievement volunteer. She decided that this year, she wanted to pass this on to someone else at Lehman's. Apparently, I was the first person she thought of, so she asked if I was interested. Strangely enough, I had actually volunteered for JA, in 2006 (I think), at Mt. Eaton Elementary School. So, this was actually something I had a little experience with, so I didn't hesitate to accept.

I got kind of excited when Glenda asked me to do it. And that was before I found out WHERE exactly Glenda volunteered. Yep, you guessed it...Dalton Elementary. I was going back "home", yet again. And to my surprise, guess which teachers are still teaching 3rd grade. Mrs. Handwerk and Mrs. Clark! Seriously...what are the odds?!?!

So, today, I went back to 3rd grade for the 3rd time. It's been 9 years since the last time I was there as a student teacher, and 23 years since my first time, as a student. Wow. I think it's truly amazing how all of these seemingly unconnected things have been miraculously interwoven! Don't you think?!

Music Ironicness: William Tell - Jeannie

Music/TV Ironicness: Whitney Houston - I Wanna Dance With Somebody

Monday night on Dancing With The Stars, Danica and Val danced to Whitney Houston's "I Wanna Dance With Somebody". This morning, I was listening to Pandora. I was listening to my Boy Band station, and what song comes on? Whitney Houston's "I Wanna Dance With Somebody"! Why? That is so crazy! That's such an old song, and I don't see a lot of similarities between that song and the other boy band songs I've favorited on that station. I'm not sure why Pandora picked that song. So crazy!

Ironicness

A couple days ago, I had another weird case of irony. One of my Facebook friends posted needing help with a word game. You have 4 pictures, blank spaces for letters and letter options. You have to figure out what the word is that describes all 4 pictures using the letters. I'm usually pretty good at this game, and often can help people within seconds or a few minutes. My Facebook friend's answer was "French". The pictures were of French-tipped fingernails, a long loaf of bread, an arch (that looked like it would be somewhere in Europe), and someone painting.

After helping out with this answer, it put me in the mood to play a few rounds on my phone. I had a different version of the game, but it's the exact same concept. My VERY FIRST puzzle, the answer was France! I actually tried French first because all those letters were there, and the words have the same number of letters. When French wasn't right, I tried France, and that was right! What are the odds? That is just crazy!

In training this morning, Suzie found out the hard way that something you make as a description will show up in places you might not want them to. Needless to say, what she used as her test description was pretty funny, and we all got a big laugh out of it. For the afternoon class, we used this funny situation as a lesson on what not to do. To reference Seinfeld, I said we wouldn't "name names", but before I could say it, Chris said it was Suzie. So I said, "he name name"...I don't think anyone got it. This was a reference to when Elaine got Ned's name blacklisted at Hop-Sing's, and he said "she name name".

Yesterday, I was reading a blog written by one of my friends, and it's called "Work in Progress". As I was reading the blog, I was also watching American Idol. Today, I was posting something to Facebook. I was marking the visibility of the post using my pre-defined group "TV". When I start typing "TV", it also shows another group I have set up called "Reality TV". As I was doing this, the song "1985" by Bowling For Soup was playing, and a line in the song says "When did reality become TV", just as I was selecting "TV", but also looking right at "Reality TV". So weird! What are the odds?!

Music Ironicness: Rain

Today it rained, and rained, and rained....all day long. It's funny that it seems like any time it rains, a song about rain randomly plays. It's usually Travis's "Why Does It Always Rain On Me". Today I heard not one, not two, but three songs with rain in the title!

The first one was Jordin Sparks's "Let It Rain"

Next came The Audition's "Make It Rain" (Note: on this song, I actually chose to play my entire The Audition collection, but still).

Then, as if that wasn't weird enough, on my way home from work, I hear Blind Melon's "No Rain" (What's odd about this song is that this song is 20 years old! What was it doing on the radio? Side note...how can this song be 20 years old? Man, I feel old!)

March 31, 2014: Seinfeld Reference #126

Today, Diane was talking about someone she knows who hit a deer. He was taking a child home from the event that they were at together. She said after they hit the deer, he kept driving...even though the car was smoking and still managed to drop the kid off safely at home. As she was telling this story, I was thinking of Kramer when he was telling his story about driving the bus and how he had to take over driving during all the commotion. At one point he talks about kicking the bad guy who had a gun, out the door at the next stop. Jerry says: "You kept making all the stops?!" Kramer replies: "Well, people kept ringing the bell!" So, I used that reference and Diane totally got it, and we both laughed so hard!

TV Ironicness

Normally, when something really ironic happens, it is music-related. I like to call it "music ironicness". It's when I'm listening to a song, and either it totally relates to something that just happened, or maybe a word in the song was just said out loud, or I read it at the same time it was sung in the song, etc. Well today, something ironic happened, TV-wise.

For my treadmill walk today, I watched the next episode of Buffy The Vampire Slayer in my queue on Netflix. That episode was the Season 5, episode 15 called "I Was Made To Love". In that episode, Buffy's mom, Joyce dies. So what's ironic, you ask? Well, I was catching up on my TV blogs that I like to read daily, and in TV Guide's "Ask Matt" column, the very first question included a reference to this exact episode of Buffy! Keep in mind, this episode originally aired in 2001...it's 13 years old! How totally ironic, for this show to be referenced...let alone the EXACT episode that I literally just watched 2 hours ago! Whoa!

This was the reference:

Question: I'm sure you have tons of letters in your mailbag about the "twist" on The Good Wife. For once, this was not over-hyped at all. I've always stood by the idea that the creators of shows are artists who have the right to do whatever they want with their characters, and we should be more angry with gratuitous plot twists or inconsistent character development than things that just make us sad. It is a "melodrama," after all, and entertainment does not mean that you will be made happy all the time. That said, I have had to rein myself in about Will's death, which might rank as the most upsetting TV death in my long history of TV watching. Unlike, say, the death of Joyce Summers on Buffy, Will and Alicia have seemed integral to the plot trajectory of the show, and now I feel like a main source of my pleasure is gone.

Music Ironicness: The Downtown Fiction - Keep Moving

Maybe it was the full moon just a couple days ago, but another totally random and strange musical occurrence happened to me. I was working on a spreadsheet at work. One of the columns, specifically the column I was editing, was labeled "Signed Up". While I was working in that column, the song "Keep Moving" by The Downtown Fiction came on. One of the lines in the song includes the words "signed up". Seriously, what are the odds?!?! The line was "she signed up for community college".

Fridays definitely have a "feel" around the office. Everyone always seems a bit more giddy and silly, and sometimes downright loopy. Today felt downright loopy. Holly said it sure feels like Friday. That made me think of the conversation that Jerry, Kramer and Newman had one time about how Friday has a "feel", and Kramer said that he really thought Tuesdays had a "feel".

Kramer: What's today?
Newman: It's Thursday.
Kramer: Really? Feels like Tuesday.
Newman: Tuesday has no feel. Monday has a feel, Friday has a feel, Sunday has a feel....
Kramer: I feel Tuesday and Wednesday...

For some reason, Bella was insanely gassy. Mom and I were trying to work on putting some manuals together, and Bella felt it necessary to parade herself on and around all our papers, plus just plop herself down, and toot and toot and toot! She's never been that bad before. It was so smelly, and we just kept laughing. It reminded me of the Seinfeld episode when Kramer fed Rusty the horse Beef-a-rino and he got gassy on the handsome cab ride. Kramer yells out: "Rusty! Rusty!"

Music Ironicness

Today was a very rough day. Lots of problems just kept coming my way, one after another. Music Ironicness

So, this round of "Music Ironicness" isn't actually about a song I "heard", but it's still very ironic. I was watching a video from one of my favorite people, Tim Dormer, winner of Big Brother Australia 2013. He is awesome, and I just love him. He's such a goofball, and he cracks me up on a daily basis. Any way, his most recent video is of him finding the love of his life: a baby puppy, who is calling Meat Loaf. Tim tends to name all of his animals after musicians. He loves guinea pigs and had literally dozens of them, and they were named things like Lady Gaga, Steven Tyler...you get the picture. So, his newest pet, is named after the singer Meat Loaf. As Tim is snuggling with his new little puppy, he starts singing "I would do anything or love..." which is one of Meat Loaf's songs. It's been a long time since I've heard that song. So the ironic part is that I was perusing my Bloglovin blog newsfeed, and there was an article titled "Meat Loaf Explains What the "That" is in "I'd Do Anything For Love"! Whoa! What are the odds? One in a million? Probably. The song is from 1993, why on earth would this be a news topic in 2014? So strange...

Here is Tim's video:

Music Ironicness: Green Day - Basket Case

So, I was in the process of putting together my "Songs of the Day" blog post. I was on the last song: Green Day's "Basket Case". I found the video, and was putting the link in my blog. I flip over to Facebook while the video is playing, and there is a post from Green Day about how the album Dookie is 20 years old! I couldn't remember if this song was on that album or not. I knew it was an old one, but couldn't remember which album it came from. Sure enough, it was Dookie! What are the odds! And how in the heck can this song be 20 years old? I feel so old! I remember this song being played on the radio on the school bus when I was in junior high...which was...a long time ago. OK, I guess 1994 was a long time ago!

Seinfeld Reunion Awesomeness

It's been rumored: a Seinfeld reunion was coming soon...very soon. Surprise, surprise this reunion took place during the Super Bowl of all places! Fastforwarding through the game just to watch the commercials all paid off with this juicy little nugget!

It is a combination of the Seinfeld we all know and love, and Jerry's new web show, Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee. How cool! It was great to see Jerry and George as their old characters, in a new setting. We even get an appearance from Newman!

Seinfeld References #122 & 123

January 23, 2014: Seinfeld Reference #122
I was proofreading some scripts for AX, and the title of one of them was "Write Offs". Of course my first thought goes right to:

Jerry: "You don't even know what a write off is." ...
Kramer: "Well they're the ones writing it off."

I recently got my Outlook upgraded from the 2003 version to the 2010 version, and there are so many new features. One of them is the "ribbon" at the top. I was looking at some of the settings and it said "Minimize Ribbon" and "Hide Ribbon". For some reason, the first thing I thought of was when Kramer didn't want to wear the AIDS ribbon, and in my mind as I was reading those settings, I was reading them with the accents of the Puerto Ricans that said "Who? Who doesn't want to wear the ribbon?"

Music Ironicness

1. I was leaving work to go home, and the first song that played in the car was Daughtry's "Home", in which the lyrics actually state "I'm going home".

2. Today was a stressful day, and I've got a lot of things I'm worrying and stressing over. One of the songs that played randomly while I was working was The All-American Rejects' song "Why Worry".

Seinfeld Reference #121

Today I read a news headline that read: "Man accused of killing stepfather with 'atomic wedgie'". ATOMIC WEDGIE! No kidding! How ridiculous?! It's sad that someone died, but how can you not think of George getting an atomic wedgie by Mr. Heyman, the gym teacher.

Music Ironicness

This morning I was in the bathroom getting ready. I hadn't put in my contacts yet, and I was debating if I just wanted to wear my glasses, because the last few days my eyes have really been irritated. As I was thinking, my eyes started burning, as they do sometimes. And as I was thinking to myself "man, my eyes are really burning this morning"...my alarm playing music was playing the song "The Collapse" by Adelitas Way, and in the song there is a line "I want it to break, I want it to burn".

Music Ironicness

A couple of strange music things happened yesterday:

1) The random song that was playing was Katy Perry's "Wide Awake". In the song there is a line that goes "...falling from cloud nine". At the time that that line played, I was scrolling through some songs and exactly when she sang "nine" I was looking at the Casey James song "Jealous Guy", that appeared on Season 9 of American Idol (and I have that as the album title). So she was singing "nine" and I was looking at "9" at the same time.

2) 2 random songs happened to play in the same day with the line "shake that thing". I think these 2 songs are the only 2 songs in my 9,000+ song collection with that phrase. The 2 songs couldn't be more different. One is a country song from the movie Country Strong ("Shake That Thing" performed by Gwyneth Paltrow) and the other is from a sort of rock group ("Paris" by Grace Potter and the Nocturnals). Very strange.
